My Sterling history
As I understand it, the 1st owner of my kit bought it after taking a tour of the production facility at California Component Cars. He purchased his kit in 1974, choosing to enlist the help of an electrician friend to build the car with him. Since the original owner is a dentist, and the electrician a master with 110v wiring, I believe this to have been a brave move. They had the basic vehicle built at the beginning of 1975. The second owner actually made some improvements to the car for the 1st. Then he acquired it. He redid some things on the car, parking it in his back yard in 1982. (see photo) I found the car in 1991, purely by accident, I was hooked. It would be 5 years until I would get this car in my garage. As fate would have it, I was driving through that same neighborhood just before Christmas of 1996. Having done without year in-year out this time of year, I decided to do something for myself. After stopping by to see the owner one more time, he made me an offer I simply could not refuse.When I got the title, I found the title had never been transferred, making my car a 1 owner!
